TikTokers Help School Save Christmas For Students

When Emily “Kyle” Murphy, a testing coordinator at a Fort Worth, Texas, elementary school, learned that her school couldn’t afford to continue its long-standing tradition of buying holiday gifts for students, she decided to take matters into her own hands. She says that for many of the students, the gifts are the only presents they get for Christmas.

Hoping to keep the tradition alive, Murphy created the TikTok account KyleSavesChristmas and shared what was happening. Viewers immediately wanted to help. She posted an Amazon wishlist and donation links, and within about two days, strangers had purchased all 400 toys the school needed. Extra donations made it possible to add stockings filled with essentials like socks and toothbrushes.

Murphy says the generosity has been overwhelming, and she credits the TikTok community for bringing back the magic of the season for her students. Her daughter calls the growing stack of donated boxes “Christmas magic,” and Murphy says the whole experience has shown how powerful small acts of kindness can be. She hopes the support will remind people of how much teachers give, both in time and in resources.
