Kane Brown has a new album High Road out today so he stopped by The Bobby Bones Show to talk about the new project and his life lately.

It's been two years since Brown put out an album, and High Road features 18 songs. While he says that's one of his favorite albums he has worked on because of all the time that went into it, he still thinks it was a little rushed. He really likes putting out singles more because he feels like his fans want new music quicker, rather than waiting and getting it all at once. "Backseat Driver" had spent 5 years going around Nashville, but when Brown heard it, he felt like he wrote it. A list minute addition to the new album was his collaboration with Khalid "Rescue," the album was already supposed to be turned in when the song got written. Then on "Body Talk," Brown was originally going to ask Selena Gomez to go on the song with him, but when his wife Katelyn heard it she told him she would kill it and wanted to sing the female part. When Brown wrote "Haunted," he was in a hotel room that had a bank vault and everything in the room felt haunted, so he decided to write a song about haunted and it morphed into a song about depression. He sent it off to Jelly Roll who loved the song and wanted to collaborate with him on it. Brown has another collaboration on the album with Brad Paisley. Brown had posted a cut of "Things We Quit" on Instagram and fans commented saying they heard Paisley on it, so Brown sent it over to him and Paisley not only cut it, but put a solo on it as well. Lastly, there is a cover of "Stay" from Sugarland on this new album, Brown shared it was his mom's favorite song back in the day. He would always sing it and it got stuck in his head, so he re-wrote it for this album.

Brown also spoke on some other projects and the stories behind them. With "Like I Love Country Music," Brown loved it when he first heard it, but after it got produced he wasn't a fan. So he sat on that song for 2 years before picking up the demo again and falling in love with it for a second time, that's when they changed the production of it and it got released. One song Brown has yet to release is called "Be A Boy," which he thinks should be Song of the Year whenever it's finally out. He had cut it, and it was meant to be on his new album, but he didn't feel like he did it justice so it got pulled from the album for now. He feels like eventually he will be able to do the song justice, but it has to be a day where he is feeling extra vulnerable.

Outside of his new album, Brown is going to be shooting a new movie with one of his good friends. However, he hasn't taken any acting lessons or coaching, just "raw dogging it." He also recently sang at the New Year's Eve show in Nashville and admitted that it was a pretty miserable experience. It was freezing outside, and he had to perform at random times for over an hour since it was on live television. He mainly felt bad for the fans because there was no alcohol involved, so it was super cold outside and no one had alcohol. Brown did spend some time in Nashville for the holidays where he ran into Lunchbox at a Christmas event. Lunchbox had come on the show and apologized for blowing up Brown's spot and possibly letting fans know Brown was there. However, Brown had a different perspective and said it was all a totally normal conversation and Lunchbox didn't have anything to apologize about from that encounter.
