Lorrie Morgan is mourning the loss of her husband, Randy White, who died early Sunday morning (June 1) after a battle with mouth cancer. He was 72.

The Grand Ole Opry member, 65, remembered her late husband as “my champion and my rock” in a tribute she posted on Instagram: “Randy has been my partner, my champion and my rock for 17 years. Our big, wonderful family and I are devastated at the loss of this truly kind and incredible man. I was blessed by his love. Ran-Ran, I will love and miss you forever.”

Morgan’s 37-year-old son, Jesse Keith Whitley, whom she shares with late legend Keith Whitley, wrote in a tribute of his own, in part, that his late stepfather “has shown unconditional love to my mother and been the most gentle soul to ever grace this entire family. …We will miss you always and forever and our hearts are shattered in losing you.”

Morgan recently canceled shows and appearances when her husband was readmitted to a hospital in Middle Tennessee, which her manager, Tony Conway, confirmed in a statement at the time. Morgan married White in ceremony on the beach in September 2010. PEOPLE notes that the late retired entrepreneur was a former student at Hendersonville High School and Volunteer State Community College in Middle Tennessee, and went on to own a landscaping business. Morgan previously shared of White’s cancer battle: “We deeply appreciate the prayers and well wishes, and for continued support and privacy as we focus on Randy's health and on our family at this time.” She said in another post with a throwback Christmas photo that he was “making some progress. I miss us there. We are strong and he is determined.”
